"Writing about music is like dancing about architecture." - Martin Mull
So last year my wife Danielle and I decided we'd start a music website called Backstage All Access that covered all manner of music news but gave special focus to the West Michigan (and particularly Grand Rapids) music scene. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Ultimately we discovered what a full time job it was constantly finding new content for the site and finding funding to keep it going turned out to be futile.
So now I've decided to start a much smaller venture, a music blog. basically I'll be writing about a lot of the same things we wrote about on the website but I'll take the liberty to write about some things only real music geeks might find interesting.
Interested in the Alan Parsons 4 channel surround mix of Dark Side Of The Moon? Rare tracks from 80's hair metal bands? Variations in Prince single mixes? Maybe, maybe not. But I'll also still talk about recent concerts (local or national) I've had the privilege of photographing and write up little reviews here. I'll talk about what concert movies are worth a shit (and which aren't). I'll dish on the gossip if it's juicy. Or whatever else is tweaking me music-wise.
I don't have to make any money on it and I don't have to kiss anyone's ass. I'm liking it already.
